Overview

Trafford Centre is a retail development of 2230000 sqft, located in Manchester. The Trafford Centre is well served by local cycle routes. There is a recently enhanced (via the Metrolink related highway improvements) dedicated cycle network through Trafford Park, plus local routes from Davyhulme, Urmston and Eccles. The Bridgewater Cycleway runs along the Bridgewater Canal and provides a dedicated off-road cycle route to the centre (via the rear of Trafford Palazzo) from the city centre, Old Trafford, Stretford, Sale and Altrincham. A scheme to reinstate a raised towpath across the Barton Aqueduct is also nearing completion. This project will create a new traffic-free route out west along the Bridgewater Canal to Salford, filling in a key gap in the Bridgewater Way route. This will make it easier for residents of Salford to reach the centre without using a car, by avoiding the need for pedestrians and cyclists to navigate the busy Barton Road Swing Bridge. Cycle parking is available in various locations around the centre, plus a secure cycle parking facility adjacent to the Bus Station. Shower and changing facilities are also provided for directly employed centre staff. Occupants choosing to actively travel to and from to Trafford Centre will have access to 80 occupant bicycle parking spaces, 9 showers, and 346 lockers.
